Hi Jacky. The end of May is not to early, it's a great time to see the wild flowers! Also, dogs are allowed at Lily Lake Park but must be leashed at all times.

Thanks for your questions!

When's the best time to visit for wild flowers? Will end of May be too early?

Also, are dogs allowed at Lily Park (not sure if that's part of the National park)?

But, dogs are NOT allowed on trails in the National Park. Dogs ARE allowed on trails in the Nationaal Forest which is almost everything east of Estes Park. So, yes, dogs are allowed in Estes Park proper and in the National Forest, but not in the National Park.

Thanks for asking TBM! Yes, dogs are allowed on the trails in Estes Park as long as they are on leash that's no more than six feet long.

I was there for that family reunion - one of the other great things that happened is that the next generation of cousins, from all over the country, got to know each other and have fun together. Estes Park is the best!

My husband and I just returned from a wonderful trip to Fort Collins for a break from the Texas heat. Estes Park is an enjoyable 1 hour drive away through captivating rock walls along icy cold water luring us to pull over for photo opps. We were fortunate to get excellent trail advice from Betsy at the Information Center who directed us to this trail. Pleasant first run for flat-landers getting acclimated to the elevation, great views along the way, well maintained trailhead, rarely saw other hikers, and satisfying rock formations for my geologist husband. Definitely worthwhile.
